paper or plastic?

dear walmart,

i love shopping at your stores. i really do. you are everywhere, you carry just about everything, and best of all, you are cheap! that last one really helps a girl like myself out. i can now buy way cooler stuff that i want, because i didn't just pay an a**load of money on stupid food.

i do have some frustration in regards to your employees. why don't they know how to bag groceries? i would think that in the job description, correct bagging of groceries would be high on the list, i don't know for sure, but my best guess is that it's up there.

from what i have seen from most of the employees at my local walmart, is that you had them watch a 10 minute video. and i am sorry to say, i don't think the video has paid off. in fact, i would bet that more than half of your employees were asleep during it, which would explain why there is so much variance in their bagging process.

you have the one dude who seems to think that everything weighs the same. he apparently sees no reason why heavy canned goods should not go on top of bread. either he is unaware of physics or he is an a**hole who is upset that he works at walmart, so my bread suffers for his life decisions.

then you have the bag nazi who seems to think that there is a shortage in bags. hey, i am all for not wasting excess resources, but there is a difference between being eco conscious and just an idiot. in what world does it seem appropriate to put an entire cart of groceries into 3 bags?! srsly? what the fetch?

and lets not forget the exact opposite of the bag nazi, the lady who seems to think that each item gets its own bag! so then i end up with 30 bags, which is not only awkward and weird, but it's also wasteful. why is there so much inconsistency in their bagging???

oh well, as i said earlier, your prices can not be beat, so i will continue to patron my local neighborhood walmart, but agghh! doesn't mean that it isn't frustrating each time i go!

you should really look into changing your bagging orientation,

p.s. sound off- where are the places you hate going?

I decided to give you a follow saw you on Sits.
And I totally agree with the bag thing, it is strange.
I dont like going to Ross dress for less because it is usually a madhouse and the lines are for ever and there are itty bitty baby's being dragged around and they are so tired and hungry and poor baby's but its a crazy joint. I only go once in a while now.

first...when you type "srsly" for seriously, i try to read it that way in my mind. with no vowels.
second...walmart is a srsly big secret in my house. my husband is a union electrician and sam walton don't like unions. i have to sneak to sam's club and walmart. my kids call walmart the "bad store."
third...my problem is more with people who do. not. bag. their. own. groceries. so frustrating!! i wait in line, usually with no less than two children, as their stuff is rung up and then i have to wait some more while the ringer bags their stuff. meanwhile, they are standing there drooling watching the whole thing! step up people, bag your own damn groceries and get me out quicker!!! it's a plus for you, too, then no one has to listen to me tell my kids to behave any longer.
ok, my rant is finished. whew!

hahaha!! i LOVE this...because i actually have "I hate Walmart" as one of my post labels on my blog (that's how much i hate it!)

the bag thing is a definite issue...and i always seem to get the person who wants to bag each item seperately.

srsly?? i also love that you take the vowels out of this word...been doing it forever over here, only when my daughter, myself, or my sisters use the word we actually SAY each letter seperately...

S-R-S-L-Y?? yep. it takes a little extra time, but makes our conversations more fun :)

I prefer paper to plastic, but our Wal-Mart only does plastic. Ugh. Your right, they don't know how to bag. Really, shampoo has to have it's own bag? They can't be bothered with taking the bags off of that turning bag holder contraption either. Prices are great, though.

Girl, you are just naive. You think they were sleeping through the training? They weren't. It goes like this, "Throw the groceries in the bag. Cram in as much as you can into as few bags as possible." And they all do!

Now, if I was writing a letter to Walmart it would be for that seriously annoying greeter who swears at people, etc. etc. Aren't greeters suppose to be the first impression of the store? So swear at me, that brings me back again and again.

I always use the self scan aisle (oh boy, that is a whole other letter for you!) because when I don't, I either get the person who thinks every single item needs a double bag! or they put all the heavy items in one bag...my husband hates Walmart, he would love this post!

A big Halleluiah! from me! I recently had the one who puts every item in it's own bag, and then I got tangled up in so many little bag handles while I was trying to manage them in the car and in the house. But, like you said... super cheap.

I would just rather bag the stuff myself most of the time. And I hate going to Dunkin' Donuts because of the terrible customer service I get most of the time. But I'm addicted to their coffee so I keep going back for more abuse.

This is funny stuff...and I totally agree. I'm a Target shopper because I'm a little scared by some of the shoppers and employees I've encountered at Walmart. I do, however, run in once in awhile to buy fabric and ribbons...cheap stuff!

This happens everywhere. Even in Tarjay. I think these peeps needs to do bag bootcamp training just to get it OR you can just bring your own shopping bags then you're rid of these dweebs peeps :)

Ah, the correct bagging of groceries...

Am a bit of a Nazi there, myself. Never let anyone touch my stuff anymore(it's a trust issue ).

Plus, cold and frozen have to go together, heavy and fragile apart -not to mention cleaning/ beauty products, which need to be in a little bag of their own..

And yes, I do realise there's quite a series of things (seriously) wrong there but, at least, all my purchases make it home in one piece...

Haha - I don't go to Walmart, it's too out of the way and too busy for my "keep away people!" tastes. But Target gets pretty crowded too for that matter.... But I agree that any checker/bagger needs proper training. I have had some pretty awkward/heavy/empty bags myself!

i really do prefer target for just about everything over walmart (except price, they are bit more pricy), unfortunately there isn't one real close by, so i have to make due with walmart. luckily its just a small neighborhood market, and not a superwalmart, i can't do those, i take issue with their clientele...

HI! Thanks for stopping by my blog--I think this post is hilarious yet so true--and they seriously have to watch a 10 minute video to learn how to bag groceries? Maybe they should have a mentorship program or something or that should be part of the interview process
